Acid–base titration
Aim
Follow a strong acid–base titration and use its endpoint to estimate equivalence.
- Tell an observed endpoint apart from the equivalence point.
- Apply the 1:1 mole ratio to find an unknown concentration.
- Explain why closely agreeing repeat titres strengthen a result.
Apparatus
- Burette on a stand and a conical flask
- Volumetric pipette with a filler for measuring the acid
- Dilute HCl, standard NaOH, phenolphthalein, and a white tile for seeing the colour
